Welcome to my profile page.  I began my journey with Reflexology in 1978, and took my first training in 1979, at the International Institute of Reflexology.  It was a wonderful launching into this age-old science.  Dwight Byers heads up the International Institute, the nephew of the late Eunice Ingham-Stopfel, who was known for bringing the training to the lay-person.  Reflexology was discovered in our country by a medical doctor, Dr. William Fitzgerald in the early 1900’s.  It was first practiced by doctors in hospitals.  As we moved from homeopathic medicines to allopathic medicines, Reflexology was being phased out as the general consensus was that drugs were faster and better for the body.  That was in the early 1900’s....I am so pleased to be able to share with you that after almost a century Reflexology its moving back into the hospitals as a complementary therapy to be integrated with the medical module once again.  Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan invited my training to their on-site school, to begin in January 2010!  I am very honored to be taking this training back to it’s roots in our country; the hospitals.

My training includes many other adjuncts to Reflexology as I had many questions that my training did not address.  Why only this one toe, or why just this side of my body, or is this going to continue to get worse?  I had to find answers for my clients as well as myself.  I took classes in:

  1. *Health and the Human Mind

  2. * Herbology

    Reiki I and II

Body Electronics (where we used many reflexology points, and acupressure holds)

    Electromagnetic Fields

    Iridology; The Science

Mastery of Words, What We’re Really Saying

   * The University of Science and Philosophy, Universal Law, Natural Science

and Living Philosophy.  A Home Study Course.

   * Michigan State University, Cadaver Lab experience.  Able to touch and hold

body parts to establish correlation with zones; expanded reflexes during

disease processes.  View foot challenges from the inside. Talk with physician

in lab and ask questions. 1986 and 2010.  Most recently (2010), the Assistant Dean at the college

of Osteopathy personally confirmed Reflexology indicators in feet!

In 2002, worked with Dr. Gwen Wyatt to produce a Pilot Study for Reflexology.  We studied three different modalities for women with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy to see which one women found helpful.  We looked at Guided Imagery, Reminiscent Therapy and Reflexology.  Reflexology demonstrated to be the therapy of choice.  Dr. Wyatt wrote a $3.1 million dollar grant to study this much more thoroughly and in 2005, The National Institute of Health (NIH) granted the funding to Michigan State University.  This study has been completed.  Good results!

In 2003, the certificate training program began.  I had taught weekend training programs for many years.  Since Reflexology was gaining in popularity and clients and friends were asking where they could learn how ‘the body talks’ as interpreted by this training...... Branch Reflexology Institute, LLC, evolved.

In 2009, Beaumont Hospital invited a Clinical Reflexology Training to be taught on site at the Royal Oak, Michigan school.  As of January, 2011, Branch Reflexology Institute had its first graduating class of Clinical Reflexologists!  Congratulations Grads!
